I have been using Brave for several months and lately am not able to get notifications to go away. They pop up in the bottom right corner, be they ads or calendar notifications (with the Brave logo). I used to be able to close them out simply by clicking the X or close, and for some time now this rarely works. Instead, clicking x or close does nothing and the notification box only goes away on it’s own after an extended period of time. It means I can’t read or click on any content behind the box during that time. I cannot find where in the settings I might be able to stop these notifications altogether. Every once in a while it suddenly works where I am able to close out the popup right away like I used to - but this is rare and doesn’t have a pattern in terms of when it ‘works.’ This is happened on my laptop running on Windows.
Hello - Could you provide a screenshot of the type of notification you’re seeing on your device?
In-browser notification settings can be managed from here: brave://settings/content
I went into the link you sent and turned off notifications so we will see what happens. I just couldn’t find where to do it before. Not sure if these screenshots will come through to you but these are examples of what I see. Thank you
Do you have Brave Rewards enabled? brave://rewards
If so, you’ll see ads through the Rewards program as well. Thanks!
No, I don’t believe I do. Per the screenshot below and Rewards settings, I am still being prompted to sign up. And per this screenshot, I am still getting these notifications even though I just disabled them in the 1st link you sent. Is there perhaps some other way I am signed up for the rewards program and it isn’t obvious how to confirm? I know it is something you intentionally sign up for, but if I did it would have been months ago and I likely forgot.
Visit brave://rewards and click reset in the bottom-right corner. This should disable it fully.
Thanks. Clearly I am setup for rewards and had forgotten, else there wouldn’t be a reset needed. I am guessing these notifications are required to be in that program, so resetting is effectively removing me from rewards, correct? Ultimately I just wanted to stop the problem I am having where I can’t even close these popup boxes at all anymore - I used to be able to. But if I can’t troubleshoot why that started happening a few weeks ago, then I will just remove myself from rewards / reset.
To clarify, you’re participating in Rewards, but not eligible for earning until you connect your account to a custodian or Solana wallet. Hi again - I disabled / reset rewards, and I continue to get notifications for my google calendar since it is enabled in google and my browser is always open. To be clear, I am totally fine with and want these notifications. However, they aren’t going away and I can’t click X or Close or anything - none of the buttons on the popups work anymore to close out. So they sit there for a long period before going away on their own. As I type this, this same notification below is STILL showing. Only a few short weeks / days ago I could click to close these immediately. I am not sure how else to troubleshoot this- it is a relatively new issue and only happens in Brave. If I switch to another browser and close brave out, this doesn’t happen. I get these google notifications and can close out right away. Going on nearly 2 minutes that the notification is still visible. Eventually it will go away on its own, I will have to time to see how long it takes. Just odd this didn’t happen until recently after months of Brave use.
