Detailed step-by-step instructions:

I had switched my router to require an HTTPS site to log in and then pinned the settings page. Later, I found that the there were some problems with the self-signed CA and decided to change the setting back to only HTTP, this if I remember correctly, was done in Chrome.

Now, the tab that contained the pinned HTTPS settings page (that can no longer be reached) is constantly showing the spinning orange circle, I am unable to unpin the tab or close it by right clicking, and every-time I attempt to open a different site in within the pinned tab, a new unpinned tab is opened… meaning I will never be able to close the tab.

I even tried right clicking on the pinned tab to the left and selecting “close tabs to the right”… This did nothing to the pinned tabs, only effected the full tabs.

I hope that’s enough information to help with this issue.

Thanks much.

PS -

Also, the pinned tabs don’t seem to remember the order I put them in after closing and re-opening Brave.

I am seeing the same problem. Very annoying - were you ever able to find a fix?

#3

Nope.

I still have a pinned tab that is infinitely spinning the orange circle, that I am unable to close or load anything new into.

Hoping someone will add this to the fix list… and maybe even respond to this post, just to let us know that the problem is acknowledged and planned to be addressed.

Hi @Vaulcul @AlexCuse,

I’m sorry for late response. Is this still happen in latest release 0.18.36? And still no “Unpin” option in right-click?

Maybe if this one is implemented, you can close that pinned tab via right-click.

@eljuno

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, this is still happening in 0.18.36 (at least for me) .

Adding the ability to right-click and close a pinned tab will definitely help… Although, it would also be nice to unpin tabs that are still loading too. Maybe even have the ability to lock/unlock a tab, allowing/disallowing the navigation to another site.

Thanks for your assistance.

#6

I don’t recall ever closing it, but the tab in question does seem to have disappeared, perhaps on the update. Sorry I can’t help more.

#7

Nevermind - it was hidden by a remote desktop resolution issue I guess.

When I try to change the address it loads the new site in another tab, and there is no option to close the tab with the “this site can’t be reached” message.

#8

Will also cc-ing @suguru for possible open issue.

As an FYI, I just updated to the following version of Brave and the problem still exists:

Brave: 0.19.48
rev: de939f6dcd1647f43de544b22dfdd103585b4ec2
Muon: 4.4.28
libchromiumcontent: 61.0.3163.100
V8: 6.1.534.41
Node.js: 7.9.0
Update Channel: Release
OS Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS Release: 10.0.15063
OS Architecture: x64

I just found the exact same error on mine.

Brave: 0.19.53
rev: e09025bf61debc46c03459def2501b3367f182d7
Muon: 4.4.29
libchromiumcontent: 61.0.3163.100
V8: 6.1.534.41
Node.js: 7.9.0
Update Channel: Release
OS Platform: Linux
OS Release: 4.14.0-1-MANJARO
OS Architecture: x64

Just built from git and the error is still here. It’s only esthetically better, pinned tabs are not constantly loading, but there’s still no way to unpin, close or change the url (new tab opens instead).

Brave 0.21.0
V8 6.2.414.32
rev bb324eb
Muon 4.5.9
OS Release 4.14.0-1-MANJARO
Update Channel Release
OS Architecture x64
OS Platform Linux
Node.js 7.9.0
Brave Sync v1.4.2
libchromiumcontent 62.0.3202.62

Edit: Oh, nope, sorry. In 0.21 we can close the Pinned tabs, but still it throws an error, so it doesn’t change much.

#12

On Linux i fixed it (of course temporarily) by removing session store located in ~/.config/brave/session-store-[some number]. I’m on Manjaro, no idea if it’s somewhere else on other distros.

It removes also all stored statistics about ads blocked and i don’t know what else, so be careful
