I have the same problem, see the attached image. I use Save Pinned Tabs plugin but it doesn’t look like the cause of the problem.

I’m also seeing this.
Ubuntu 24.04
Brave 138.1.80.113

Same problem.

I need to mention that I have the “Updated horizontal tabs” flag disabled.

Enabling that flag fixes the problem, but I just can’t get behind how the pinned tabs look with that setting.

System info:

  • Brave 1.80.115 (Official Build) (arm64)
  • Chromium: 138.0.7204.97
  • macOS 15.5

I can confirm that changing the #brave-horizontal-tabs-update to enabled does make the tabs a reasonable size, but then it uses the (what I find to be) very ugly pill view, and it doesn’t work with many themes. I had that flag disabled, because the old style actually worked, and didn’t take up huge amounts of vertical real-estate.

So while enabling that flag is a work around, it’s not a fix.
This needs to be fixed, not just worked-around.

The workaround works for me too, but I also really dislike the updated tab design. It was good to have a choice.
