Many websites have both a PIN and a password. Generally, the pin is used for some interactions or settings changes or to confirm changes. Some also use the PIN to log in.
The password manager should have the option to either:
- Do not ask to save the PIN (which the manager confuses as THE password)
- Do not ask to update the PIN (general or website specific)
Also the prompt to update password is glitchy as hell. You have to first focus the prompt window to then close it. How many times I’ve spammed the click to close it to no avail because it’s out of focus is beyond me.
Sure, maybe the websites should do a better job so that PINs are not confused with passwords. But it’s understandable since they generally share the same visual or behavioural configuration.
It’s not just a nice-to-have. That popup window is annoying when it’s not required, and the settings are either “do not prompt” or “prompt”, which does not cover every use case either.
