Outlook, Office365 Document Previews, and Some Websites Not Loading in Brave Since July 2

Hi Brave Support,

Since July 2, 2025, I’ve been experiencing issues with multiple websites not working in Brave. These include:

Outlook Web & Office365: Document previews (Word, Excel) via SharePoint and email links fail to load.
Some Important website: These website were working perfectly fine until from past 2 years until yesterday , they stopped loading. Some pages don’t open at all or partially load, even though they work fine in Chrome and Edge.

These issues began suddenly and persist even after clearing data, reinstalling Brave, and using a clean profile.

Everything works fine in other browsers, so this appears to be a Brave-specific problem — possibly related to a recent update.

Please advise if this is a known issue or if there’s a fix coming soon.

Thanks!

I’ve got the same issue. I tried deleting all of the cookies related with the Office / Microsoft and so on, but it didn’t help. I was able to open Excel file one by just clicking on it, but it stopped working after less than a minute. It’s quite frustrating.

Do either of you mind posting your versions and OS/device info for the developers? I’m on Windows 11 64-bit 24H2 build 26100.4484 and Brave 1.80.115, and was able to sign into my Microsoft products including Outlook just fine, though it did ask a lot of extra security questions that seemed tied to my operating system. For example, once it had my email address, it did not ask me for my password, rather Windows 11 dimmed the screen and asked for my Windows 11 account’s PIN instead, then Brave was redirected to a page asking if Outlook should remember the browsers session for the future or not.

So without device information, the developers are left in the dark about your specific setup, and what chain of authentication may be taking place.

EDIT: I take this back, OneDrive does NOT work unless it’s a Private window. Everything else however is working.

(The error seems to be generated by the server, not by Brave, but it’s consistent right now, clearing cache and cookies doesn’t work, shields are up, and only extension installed but not used here is Dark Reader).

Similar problem here for the past few days. It reads “The website at https://word.cloud.microsoft/?wdOrigin=MAIL.SHELL may be temporarily down or may have permanently moved to a new web address.”

Sorry for the late reply. Finally figured it out after 2 days of struggle

I use Norton Antivirus, and after upgrading my subscription, it auto-enabled a feature called Safe Web. That was blocking some of my work sites and document previews in Outlook.

I had to go into settings, find that Safe Web thing, and mark my sites as safe manually. After that, everything started working fine again.

Sharing here in case it helps someone else running into the same issue!

Please check if you have an Anti Virus software installed in your application , Im not sure about this website

Good to know, thanks for replying and sharing. I don’t have that, so based on the error I did get, it seems that error simply came from Microsoft’s server and was unrelated. (The worst time to get an error while testing something for someone else, lol, making me think it was related).

I’m having a similar issue with AVG. I called AVG support, and It is not solved yet. However, if you turn the anti virus off you can use the sharepoint. Also, as inconvenient as it seems, sharepoint does work in other browsers.

Supposed to have a solution from AVG tech in less than 24 hours will post the email when received .

Cheers
