On Windows, we have the option to exclude history from the address bar autocomplete: there is a broad toggle ‘Show autocomplete suggestions in the address bar’ and then there are the options Top sites, Browsing history, Bookmarks, Quick actions. Additionally, we have a toggle ‘Show search suggestions’.
On Android, we only have the options ‘Show browser suggestions’ (which shows bookmarks and history) and ‘Show search suggestions’ (which sends data to the search engine).
With ‘Show browser suggestions’ enabled on Android, and when using Google as the search engine, your recent search keywords are displayed when tapping the address bar. The only way to prevent is, is to disable ‘Show browser suggestions’ but then you also don’t get autocomplete for bookmarks and ‘Show search suggestions’ will be disabled and greyed out.
Solution: add separate toggles on Android for Browsing history and Bookmarks autocomplete. Ideal scenario: match Windows behaviour and options.
