There is a wonderful new feature called Memory Saver:
Memory Saver
When on, Brave frees up memory from inactive tabs. This gives active tabs and other apps more computer resources and keeps Brave fast. Your inactive tabs automatically become active again when you go back to them. Learn more
Many places in the world charge for bandwidth. In other words, each tab that is loaded costs money.
If a user isn’t using those tabs but they are loaded in the background anyway it is costing money.
How difficult would it be to not load a tab until it is clicked on?
Why open more tabs than you’re able to use?

You could literally go outside and throw a rock and hit someone who could tell you.
It’s called a rhetorical question, duh. If you don’t have the bandwidth / can’t afford it, then don’t open more tabs than you need / are able to use.
Aside from the bandwidth costs, I’ve found this helpful in reducing lag
(and maybe saving battery life). Plus, I don’t see why there should be random tabs
loading up in the background without me using them (when first launching Brave).
As a workaround for now, you can use Brave’s built-in task manager
to shut down unnecessary tabs. Or alternatively, I’ve found that
grouping tabs won’t run in the background (only upon startup).
Also, the memory saver feature is on desktop only (AFAIK)
so you could probably add the desktop category tag.
Oof their answer… Must be rough
To elaborate on that response… Personally, I often keep
tabs open for tasks I’ve paused or information I might need later.
That’s why I would have more tabs than I’m able to use at present : )
But we’re not cash-strapped like OP which was the point of my rhetorical question. I have great internet & can open as many tabs as I want, but if you’re poor / having to pay for bandwidth via an internet cafe or data gigs via phone, be judicious & use common sense before asking Brave for a more bespoke feature.
As it stands, I’d rather them fix this persistent sound issue across multiple tabs which has been going on for years & was finally upgraded to P2 status.
More & more people have been coming out of the woodwork with random stuff a little too close to their own lives instead of addressing system bugs affecting the community.
