openSUSE Tumbleweed: getting Error code: SIGSEGV error when viewing most websites

I’ve tried a few well-known websites (including chrome web store to download some extensions) and the only one that loads is facebook

things I tried:

  1. I’ve disabled (see attached screenshot) most/all settings in Settings => Shields
  2. I installed Brave (stable version) using the official repo for opensuse
  3. when I opened brave using the terminal, I was getting this terminal error when I get SIGSEGV => “ERROR:CONSOLE(2764)] “[Settings] Appearance Page cannot find use default theme button template”, source: chrome://settings/settings.js (2764”
