When I access a website where it asked me to connect a crypto wallet like metamask/phantom or when logging in using gmail, it automatically opens a new tab and it loads trends.google.com which is annoying. I have checked settings but I don’t see anywhere why it opens automatically: This doesn’t happen before and it suddenly is doing this I don’t know what changed for this to happen
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. When connecting a crypto wallet like metamask/phantom
  2. When logging in to a website using gmail

There should be no new tab automatically opening:

Brave Version( v1.73.104):

Additional Information:

Sounds like, Google is including a javascript as part of the back-and-forth data traffic between a) such websites that allow “Sign in with Google”:

and b) Internet browsers.

And the javascript, if you choose the “Sign in with Google” option, runs, causing the browser to open a new tab to trends.google.com . . .

That is a feature that Google is pushing. (Google is sort of “advertising by new tab?”)

Maybe @fanboynz has a solution that would block the ability of that particular javascript.
