Opening in New Tab Makes Tabs Unselectable

,

Description of the issue:

In bottom screen tab mode, the first time a new tab is opened by clicking a link, after the tab opened banner goes away, the tabs bar is unselectable.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. In browser settings select tabs on bottom
  2. Close settings so no tabs open
  3. Hard quit app and reopen
  4. Open a website (only tab open)
  5. Press and hold a link
  6. Select open in new tab
  7. New tab opens and blue banner shows, covering the tabs bar
  8. Try to select the new tab by tapping the title on the tabs bar at the bottom
  9. The tap will interact with the page behind it, as if the new tab was never opened
  10. If you tap the url bar then tap cancel, the tabs bar becomes selectable again

Expected result:

Tabs are always selectable.

At your step 8, I am expecting only 2 Tabs to exist. For example, I was expecting you to write:

Try to tap any tab, and the tap will interact with the page behind it - as if the new tab is not there.

Have you tried disabling Notifications for Brave Browser (iOS)?

Private Browsing Only mode (the setting) ← status?

Yes that’s what I meant, sorry. I updated the steps to be clearer.

I’m not sure where those settings are but I doubt they would have any effect.

Have you tried to repro?

@dexter123

The iOS Notifications settings.

Private Browsing Only setting is among the Brave Browser (iOS) settings.

I have not tried to reproduce.

The issue persists with notifications off and private browsing on.
