My brave opens apps without asking me, whereas before whenever there was something external, it would ask me before opening it. Upon opening brave some things just open automatically. I’m unsure what happened because previously, for every application there would be a prompt asking whether to open the app or not

You sure it is not a virus
you could go to. brave://settings/content/siteDetails
that yon manually disable stuff. if a speific website is acting weird.
