Occupying excessive storage despite clearing

my iOS app Brave is currently taking up 1.00 GBs of storage on my phone (up from 288.1 MB just yesterday). i saw someone reporting the same issue just after saving files to their device from Brave — the exact same thing i was doing yesterday. however, even after deleting these files and clearing the app’s history & cache, the space the deleted files took up is still being occupied, apparently.

you can produce this issue by simply downloading files to your device from the Brave app. i used a video compressing website to clear up some Photos storage, which apparently came at the cost of my Brave storage. nothing sketchy about the website or anything.
This issue has persisted throughout at least the last 3 Brave app updates. It has persisted throughout the last few device software updates as well

4 March 2023 edit: Using the latest Brave update and the latest iOS developer beta, the issue is SOLVED. What I did: clear brave storage, turn off photos access in settings, offload the app, then resetting my device. went from 2GB+ to just about 115MB in app data, which is where it should be. About time!

  1. Click on the Menu icon in the top right, and go to Settings.
  2. Select Site Settings → Cookies
  3. Make sure you select from the beginning of all time
