Not receiving ads. Pending BAT lost. Can't tip, or claim BAT. Wallet in corrupted, half-existing limbo state

Description of the issue:
I can’t receive ads, I’ve lost my pending BAT twice now, I can’t tip anyone, and my wallet seems to be in some kind of half-existing limbo state. A number of odd events preceded this issue, but I don’t remember the exact sequence of events, or which are relevant.

A few months ago, the Brave Rewards payout failed to go through, and I lost all of my pending tokens. I believe I updated the browser around this time. At some point shortly after that, I stopped receiving additional ads. Updating did not fix this, and I have not received ads for months now.

The Rewards page has said that I’ve had pending tokens to be paid out, but the payment never becomes available. Today, hoping to restore functionality, I tried to update the browser, and lost all of the remaining pending tokens.

If I go to the rewards page through the menu, it shows my wallet still has my BAT in it. However, if I touch the BAT icon on the right of the URL bar, it encourages me to join Brave Rewards as though I have not done so already. This behavior remains the same even if I’m on a page of a creator which I know can receive tips.

Ads are on, and all notifications from Brave are allowed within my phone’s settings. Location is not the issue, as I receive ads on my desktop as normal.

Checking chrome://rewards-internals reveals little. The General Info section shows the following:

External wallet info
Wallet status: Not connected

Clearly not functioning properly.

How can this issue be reproduced?
Unknown.

Expected result:
Can receive ads. Can claim new BAT. Can reclaim lost BAT. Can send tips to creators.

I have continued to search for a solution to this, but have come up empty-handed. Please advise.

I have a similar issue, additionally the next payment date is frozen in September 5, (I can’t upload screenshots in mobile and still don’t get why)

Thank you for reporting! Please DM with the following information:

  • Copy/paste your Wallet ID (found on brave://rewards-internals)
  • Your OS and Brave version (first three lines in brave://version)
  • A screenshot of your Rewards panel in Settings --> Brave Rewards.

This will help to speed up the troubleshooting. Thank you in advance!

@JohnDproof, I forgot to metnion, my payment date is also frozen, but at Jan 5.

I am still unable to find a fix. I sent a DM per your request, @steeven.

Still no progress made. At this point, I might as well reinstall, and accept permanently losing everything prior to this point.

I’ve probably lost more potential BAT in the time spent trying to figure out a solution/hoping someone else does than I would have saved from retaining what I earned before. But if I do that, and the origin of the issue isn’t understood, then I’ll always be wondering about the possibility of it happening again.

Does anyone have even a theory on a potential cause for this?

Looks like my situation may be resolved, but I’m not counting myself out of the woods just yet.

As a last ditch effort to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling, which I figured would probably erase my wallet, I hit the button to sign up for Brave Rewards. I figured this also ran the risk of erasing my wallet, but at a lower likelihood. After it thought for a minute, it returned to how it was pre-bug. Miraculously, it somehow managed to retain my old BAT.

The data in chrome://rewards-internals seems to be properly populated, with the exception that it says that my wallet was created at the date and time that I did this. I’ve been receiving ads for several days now.

The next payment date is now set to Feb 5. I figure I’ll consider this resolved once the next payment comes through at that time.
