When I click on the shileds icon, i doesn’t open, only a space round windows opens but nothing else. I have tried restarting the browser, PC and re-installing the browser as a whole. Nothing has worked for me.

Can you share a screenshot of what you see when you click on the Shields icon in the address bar? Additionally, if you open a Guest profile window (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile
) are you able to see the Shields panel?
This is how it looks like, and it’s the same on the guest profile or any other profile that I’ve made.
I’m experiencing the same issue on Arch Linux.
@Vajtnajt and @brambora69123 if you create a second browser profile, does the issue happen there as well or only on your primary browser profile?
When I say second profile, I mean the hamburger menu →
More Tools
→ Add New Profile
and testing there. This creates an additional browser profile that overall will act like you just installed the browser. It has no extensions and most settings are default. You can erase this second “test” profile after and/or easily switch to your original profile with no issues.
Nope, same issue. Happens on the new profile as well.
@brambora69123 I was hoping it might be profile specific. So far I can’t replicate on any attempt I’m making and haven’t been seeing many reports on it. Difficulty here is trying to narrow down possibilities. If you can confirm:
@Vajtnajt sorry that I missed that earlier, so it seems both of you are saying happening on any profile. But maybe good just to confirm if it’s only on Release (current normal version of Brave) or if it also happens on Beta or Nightly.
The issue only happens in the release channel, i just installed beta and nightly and they dont have this issue.
@brambora69123 will have to see if Mattches comes up with anything else but based on what I’m hearing, it seems like something just went wonky with your installation. Normally I’d say install on top to do a manual update or uninstall (deleting data) and reinstall to fix. Otherwise to consider brave://flags
But if issue is happening in other profiles without you adding extensions or anything, not sure what else might be happening.
Umm, guess one really random thought. If you disable graphics acceleration at brave://settings/system
it doesn’t change anything, right? It shouldn’t, but…
This has already been fixed in Beta and Nightly.
Thanks for that @sakusaku. And I guess, @Vajtnajt and @brambora69123 would that make sense for you? Not sure what language yours is in.
It makes sense for me, I have brave set to Czech. Why is this fix not in release yet?
Because the version where they fixed it hasn’t landed yet?
It looks like it will be arriving in the next big update. So 1.81 or higher. I’m not sure how long till that lands on released but I imagine it won’t be too long.
I don’t really have an answer as to why they couldn’t uplift it to current versions. But I’m guessing they had a reason for why it just has to go through the normal flow.
