Not able to access Google accounts

Been having issues over the past week to get Gmail to work properly. The first indication that there was an issue was in the time it took to load/refresh the tab when selected. Once it loaded none of the Gmail icons appeared, but a marker was present for them. Frustrated, I went and deleted the cache for Google. This resulted in me needing to sign in to my account again. I moved into the input book and selected the saved account name, When I select the "Next: button, the input box wrote over the account name with “Email or phone number,” and would not proceed to the next page. When I typed in the account name, the same result.

This issue seemed to cascade into another account which uses the gmail account as the sign-in for a different site. When the gmail account name and password were entered an error message was returned “The captcha is not valid.” This site does not use a captcha system for entry.

Out of frustration, I deleted Brave from my computer, rebooted, reinstalled the latest version, attempted to access gmail only to face the issue with both sites.

Reading through the community postings with somewhat similar issues recommended trying to open gmail in a private tab. I tried this and it worked; I also did it with the other site sign-in and it worked too. So while the end result was achieved, what can be done to make this work without going into private mode?

Honestly I’m a bit unclear on what the exact behavior you’re seeing is based on your description. If you could provide a screenshot/recording of the behavior you’re seeing that would be very helpful.

That said typically things that work in Private windows or fresh profiles but not in your original profile mean there is either bad data in the original profile causing the issue, or more often an extension installed that is causing the issue.

If you have any extensions installed can you please try disabling them then seeing if the behavior persists?

I disabled the all the extensions and then activated one at a time until I narrowed it down to the extension which was causing issues. I have kept it disabled and will proceed without it. All the conditions have returned to normal through this action.
