Briefly describe your issue:
I have not received my rewards for March 2024. As I look to the activities in my Uphold account then the last time I have received them was in February. So until March there was no problem with my rewards:
How funny, now I’ve got an answer from the support. I’ve been told, that my account has been flagged due to irregular activity that would be considered unusual compared to an ordinary person using Brave Ads as part of their overall, everyday browsing experience. Therefore it will remain flagged and will not be reinstated.
This amuses me because I’ve been using Brave as my main browser on all my computers since 2019 and have always used it as I still do today. I have no clue what could be irregular about my usage… and I would really like to know what rules and by whom exactly the “normal” browser usage is determined.
I also asked what constitutes “normal” use and what I can do to get my account reactivated. But unfortunately I haven’t received an answer yet. There’s nothing further from my mind than doing some kind of scam with the rewards here, I use the browser the way you use a browser. That’s why I can’t even begin to imagine what could be strange about it.
The only thing what is different to the past is, that I have activated Ads in Brave News now… and therefore if I scroll through the news I see more Ads here than before… but I think this is the way it is meant to be used. Otherwise Ads in Brave News would not make that much sense.
I have always been a loyal and passionate user of Brave and have highly recommended it to all my friends and acquaintances. But this now leaves a bland aftertaste.
And if you want to reply here with ticket number they responded to, we can then ask Evan123 if he’d be willing to take a look just in case an error was made. No promises, but that’s about all we can do. If they do take a second glimpse and decide to maintain flag, then there’s nothing further than can or will be done.
Thanks for the link @Saoiray this makes things a bit clearer… not that much but at least a little.
As I read in the other thread, my guess is actually that it might be due to the ads in the New Tab News… that’s the only thing I haven’t used before where everything was fine. And yes, I like to scroll through here to see if there are any interesting news items and so I “collect” the Ads shown in there… but in my understanding that’s what the news should be for. If this really is the case for that my account has been flagged, I would deactivate the Ads there…
Nevertheless, I would be very happy and grateful if @Evan123 could take another look at the account so that I a) know what I’ve done wrong here and b) how I can avoid this in the future. The ticket number is the 253525.
It would be a real shame if I was banned here for all eternity for something I didn’t realize could be wrong. So if there’s anything what I can do to avoid this in the future, I’d do it.
@Chezar I want to emphasize again, you’ll never get those answers. Brave’s policy is not to reveal any of that. The same is true for banks, Uphold, Gemini, Coinbase, etc. Antifraud teams don’t want to give any more information than is absolutely necessary, otherwise people use it to try to better hone things to avoid detection. So I’d give up on ever having an answer on those questions.
Other thing is if they do review and it’s upheld, then it means there is no future. You would be permanently suspended/flagged/banned and unable to link to your ZebPay on any and all accounts. Even if you are able to link, you’d be unable to receive payment. Hence what they mean when they say “won’t be reinstated.”
It’s a pity and a bit disappointing that I won’t be able to use the rewards function in future, but I guess that’s the way it is. I just think it’s a shame that the procedure here is so opaque, even if I can understand the reasons behind it. If there weren’t people who would use it to commit fraud, it wouldn’t be necessary to install such strict gates and I probably wouldn’t have the problem either.
Nevertheless, I think it’s a shame that I don’t get the opportunity to change anything about the “unusual” usage in order to be able to get rewards again. But if that’s what the people at Brave want, then we sadly have to accept it.
