No plus to add new tab when all tabs closed

Description of the issue:
When all tabs are closed there is no plus (+) icon to open a new tab. The three dots menu is there and allows the first new tab to be opened and then the plus sign appears next to the first tab.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Brave
  2. Close any open tabs

Expected result:
I expect to see the three dots menu and a plus icon. There is no plus icon showing.

I think the question was about bottom toolbar. As far as I know it isn’t turned off.

This is what I see on my end when I close all tabs in Brave — to clarify, you are not seeing the plus symbol icon (highlighted in image) when you close all your tabs?

Yes, that’s right. I have the three dots menu but no plus. The three dots appears at the top of the screen on the right.

I see — this behavior may be different in a tablet vs a phone. On my phone, when I have the bottom toolbar disabled, I see the following when all tabs are closed:

Let me see if someone on our Android team has a tablet device they can test this behavior on and what it looks like for them.

Looks like we are able to reproduce and can see that in Chrome, the button appears as expected. We’ve opened the following issue to resolve this:
