No Audio When Casting Screen from Brave Browser

Hello Brave Community,

I’m encountering an issue when trying to cast from my MacBook (running Big Sur 11.7.10) using Brave Browser version 1.70.119. When I select “Cast screen” as the source, the video displays on the TV, but the audio continues to play from my laptop. However, when I choose “Cast tab” as the source, everything works perfectly, and the sound comes from the TV as expected.

Is this how casting is supposed to operate, or is there a workaround to ensure audio plays through the TV when casting the screen? I’m using a MiBox to connect to the TV. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To clarify, are you casting to the MiBox or to the smart tv directly when this issue occurs?

Thanks for your quick response as always, Mattches. I’m casting to a MiBox. As I mentioned in my previous post, the problem only occurs when I select “Cast screen.” “Cast tab” works fine with audio.

Thank you for confirming.
So I’m inclined to think this has something to do with the Mi Box intermediately device here. I am able to cast my tab and screen to my smart TV (note that some TVs do have compatibility issues with casting from specific sources, or only allow casting from a tab but not a screen) with both audio and sound on my end.

I’m wondering if you can test whether not you’re able to cast to/through your Mi Box using Chrome or another Chromium based browser?
