Description of the issue:
I’ve used Vivaldi since it became available on Android but I’ve now decided to bite the bullet as it’s simply become too slow and too bloated. So I checked out Brave and first impressions are good. I have two main trouble spots… hopefully somebody with more experience can provide a hint or a pointer.

I am sorely missing Vivaldi’s Speed Dials on a completely empty New Tab (my config is minimalistic). This is almost a deal breaker for me as I’m really used to start up the browser and wander through the bookmarks in the Speed Dials. I’ve found a half-baked workaround (define a bookmark with title “Speed Dials qqq” and url “chrome-native://bookmarks/folders/3” and then type “qqq” in the address bar to recall that bookmark) but this is less than perfect. I’ve tried the “Top Sites” widget but that’s no great help as it changes all the time. Please give the New Tab (which is after all one of the main interfaces into the browser) some TLC.

I have Brave configured to always close all tabs on termination. On restarting just a single empty New Tab is shown, great. However, if after a while I close this tab (or at any rate the last remaining tab) by tapping the “x” (I am mostly on large tablets) I get a screen with almost nothing, just the three-dot menu top right and an icon with the text “You’ll find your tabs here”. I have to click the menu and explicitly open a New Tab. Why not open a fresh New Tab if the last tab is closed? Or at least provide an option for that?
Another, more general remark is that I find the Cookie handling pretty pedestrian… but this is something Brave shares with almost all the other mobile browsers I’ve ever worked with. The one exception is Fennec, where I can install extensions.
