New Tab Background Colour Is Wrong When a PWA App Has Been Opened Previously

Description of the Issue

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Set Blank Page as New Tab in SettingsGet StartedNew Tab PageNew Tab page shows.
  2. Make Brave open New Tab on start-up in SettingsGet StartedGet StartedOn Start-up (unless already set).
  3. Install any PWA app (the app will be opened automatically).
  4. Open a new window.
  5. Open a New Tab in the newly opened Brave window.

Actual Result

The background of the New Tab opened when performing the fourth step is different from the one, which is correct, in the New Tab that was opened when performing the fifth step.

Expected Result

The background of the New Tab opened when performing the fourth step is the same as the one in the New Tab that was opened when performing the fifth step.

Brave: 1.65.123 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chromium: 124.0.6367.91
OS: Windows 10 Pro 22H2
Note: As far as I know, this issue is also present in every other version that supports features that were used to reproduce the bug.

Can you share a screenshot of the different background colors that you’re seeing? Using the steps you’ve laid out, I’m unable to reproduce the issue — all backgrounds/colors seem to be accurate on my end.
