- Profiles are gone
2.Was working properly last night turned on pc today and everything is gone
- Brave version 1.74.50
Everything was fine a few hours prior turned my pc on and everything is gone in appdata it seems all my data is there in brave
@0xoogie thanks for reporting. Did you recently update to 1.74.50? Do you have any extensions enabled? Has this occurred before? Windows 11?

I think I had autoupdate enabled been using Brave since early 2021 this never happened to me before I had plenty of plugins but none added recently yeah am running on win11 updated BIOS yesterday but Brave was running just fine even after restarting several times
Any update regarding my issue ?

@0xoogie to clarify, you’re saying that when you check the User data folder in %AppData%, you see all your data there? For example, do you see multiple profile directories (likely labeled Profile 1, Profile 2 etc.)? If you go into those profile folders (or the Default profile folder, do you see a Bookmarks file and, if so, when you open it does it look like it has the correct bookmarks listed in it?
Hello thanks for getting back to me yes I do I downloaded nightly version and replaced the profiles I was able to get them back after a week the same thing happened with the nightly version
First, can you tell me exactly what you did to replace your profiles after downloading Nightly?
Secondly, if the issue keeps occurring then there must be something clearing this data regularly. Do you have any anti-virus software and/or automated system cleaning tools enabled at this time (such as cCleaner)?
Ok I downloaded nightly found the files in appdata then created profiles on nightly that match the numbers of profiles I have on brave then I proceeded to copy paste the profiles into the nightly profiles one by one I haven’t installed any software like CC cleaner the only antinvirus I have is windows defender
And you’re saying that this process worked for you but after restarting the browser/your PC everything was wiped again?
It’s worth noting there that typically when you move profiles in this way (specifically between versions/bulds ie Stable → Nightly, Beta → Stable, etc) its likely to, at some point introduce issues/errors. So if you are wanting to keep these profiles, I would instead simply make a safe copy of the User data folder with all revenant files and folders contained and then un/reinstall the stable build instead and try copy/paste/replace the relevant files in the newly installed stable build.
Can you try this for me and tell me if the profiles/data appears when you launch the [newly installed] stable build and also if the issue occurs again when you close the browser/restart your PC?
I have my old appdata profiles saved
I did this now with version 1.75.181 Brave I have my history and bookmarks but passwords are gone
Regarding the nightly it worked for several days before disappearing but the file size inside appdata in nightly seem to still have it all the data profiles but when I open lets say nightly profiles are missing same thing happened the first time with brave profiles don’t show up but when I go to appdata the folders are there
