My cache is getting cleared when Brave is closed down, whether it's done by me or by the iOS resource manager

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue: Whenever the Brave iOS app gets closed, either due to iOS closing it for resources or me closing it manually through the app manager, it appears to clear my cache. I’ve noticed it on dolmods.net (note: this is a porn game, so it’s NSFW), but it probably happens on other sites as well.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. open dolmods.net and make a quick save in any of the games, which gets stored in the browser cache;
  2. close the iOS browser app through the iOS app manager and reopen it
  3. navigate back to dolmods.net and notice that your save is missing.

Expected result: The browser should probably not be clearing out my cache when it’s closing.

Brave Version( check About Brave): version 1.43 (22.9.9.14)

Mobile Device details iPad Mini 2019 running iPadOS 15.7

Additional Information: block all cookies is off, Block Scripts is off, block fingerprinting is on, block cross-site trackers is on, block phishing and malware is on, upgrade to HTTPS is on, auto-redirect AMP is on, Private Browsing Only is off. I’ve also tried disabling the shield for the site entirely, without success. Cookies remain registered, because I remain logged in into other sites. This is also something that only started happening with the new version that was released 3 weeks ago, the version before that didn’t have the issue.

Hello there @nzall sorry to know that your cache and data is being reset every time you close your Brave app.

Could you please make sure that you don’t have the clear on exit option enabled? To check it, please do the following:

  1. On Brave, open this brave://settings/privacy

  2. Locate Clear browsing data and click on it.

  3. On the menu locate On exit and uncheck the boxes for cached images and files

Let me know if that solves your issue.
Regards.

How do I open that page in the iOS brave app? I’ve tried tapping it in my iOS mail app, and while it opens Brave, all it does is search Google for that string. I’ve also tried pasting it and then tapping “go” on my onscreen keyboard and it does the exact same thing. I’ve also tried manually entering it and same result: it just Googles that url. Are you sure that page works on iOS?

@nzall,
It looks like you either are this other user, or have the exact same issue as them — @michal has responded to you there:

Yes, I did ask that question on Reddit, and as you can see, someone said there that I might get a faster reply on this site. So, I decided to ask here as well.
