My brave browser just automatically reset itself, its like completely new like I just downloaded it. I need help getting the old one back.
Hello @prajwal.who, thank you for bringing this to our attention. What kind of device and OS do you use? Have you updated to the latest Brave version? If on desktop, are you sure is the same profile? if you have another or a new one should look like this:

If it’s what i started seeing recently on android, sharing a link to brave causes all your tabs to go away and you’re only left with the one opened by the share. Didn’t start happening until one of the very recent updates. Really sucks.
Hi, I use HP laptop (Windows 11),the brave browser is completely up to date and also I hae not changed any profile because I have only one profile since the beginning.
If you are sure it is the same profile, unfortunately, once the browser has been reset there is no way to go back and recover everything unless you have synced this device across other.
Hmm it’s ok I’ll continue with the new one, and could you please tell how to prevent that from happening again?
well, in rare occasions the browser will reset itself, What were you doing in that moment? Did you receive any crash message asking to restore your tabs? If so, please go to brave://crashes
- if you have automatic crash reporting is enabled (
Settings --> Privacy/Security --> Automatically send diagnostic reports), please respond back here with the crash report ID - If
Automatically send diagnostic reportsis not enabled, ensure you clickSendon these crash reports listed on the page, then reply here with the crash report ID
Otherwise you can sync your devices across to back up your information such as history, bookmarks, extensions, etc. Please read:
