Mousewheel scrolling up doesn’t auto show the address bar. Finger touch scrolling up does immediately show the address bar and tabs bar

Description of the issue:

Mousewheel scrolling up on any website doesn’t auto show the address bar. When scrolling up with a mouse the address bar only auto shows when you scroll to the top of the website. Finger touch scrolling up does immediately show the address bar and tabs bar.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Visit any website that requires scrolling. Scroll down with a mousewheel. The address bar will auto hide.
  2. Scroll back up using the mousewheel. The address bar will not auto show until you scroll to the top of the website.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Scrolling up with mousewheel does not auto show the address bar and tabs bar.

Expected result:
Like finger touch scrolling when a user attempts to scroll up with a mousewheel the address bar should auto show immediately. This allows for better productivity when using a mouse because the user can quickly open a new tab, close a tab and switch tabs with the mouse.

Reproduces how often:
Always

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
iPadOS 16.2 and Brave version 1.48.1 (23.3.2.0)

Hi there @fbatista please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. Does this same issue happen with other chromium based browser such as chrome or Edge?

If the issue does not appear there, please let me know.

Hey @Kevin_cc. I confirmed this issue does not occur using Chrome on iPadOS 16.2. When scrolling up with a mousewheel, I immediately see the address bar without needing to scroll to the top of the page. I have not tried Edge on iPadOS.

@fbatista thanks for the response. Try deleting your cookies from the app to see if the issue is solved

  1. Launching Brave, tap Menu --> Settings
  2. In the Features section, tap Brave Shields & Privacy
  3. Clear private data > Cache - cookies and site data > clear data now

Let me know if that works.

@Kevin_cc Clearing cookies didn’t help. Instead of settings or memory issue it seems like a function is missing when scrolling up using a mousewheel. If I scroll up with a finger touch gesture, I immediately see the address bar on any website using Brave, the issue is just with mousewheel scrolling. I know Safari is not Chromium based but it also has the same issue as Brave, mousewheel scrolling up also does’t immediately show the address bar. Only Chrome on iPadOS 16.2 shows the address bar anytime I scroll up using my external mouse.

@Kevin_cc are you able to test this issue yourself? Are you getting the same results?
