Recently, about 1-2 weeks ago, middle click no longer opens new tab from history
Only ctrl+left click works
Links and bookmarks middle click works fine, just history affected
It worked fine before.
Other Chromium-based browsers work fine

Your issue (Middle click does not work for History), might be a lingering Chromium problem:
Bookmarked links folder inside another folder is not opening with middle mouse
That also affects:
Middle Mouse button wont launch multiple URLs at once, but it used to
Middle clicking the mouse to open bookmarks folder stopped working
How and when a fix might be developed:
Generally, a Brave team member - such as @Mattches of Brave Support - passes the info “upstream”, and somebody among the higher-ups, who deals (word usage?) with Chromium, then passes the word on to Chromium.
Takes time for Chromium to fix, and that may not happen fast (but you may be surprised).
Weird cause vanilla Chromium works just fine. Although I may have an older version. Cause ti definitely happened after another Brave update
