Metalink support for secured downloads

Some years ago, RFC 8584 described Metalink 4 format. It’s a XML based file containing URL (HTTP, Torrent, etc.), mirrors, priorities, checksums, GPG signature, thought to be a simple way to download from a source close to the user, securely, with a file check once download is completed.

It’s used by tools like aria, LibreOffice, Slackware and some distros/open source software supports it. But no browser, explaining why it’s not so popular.

As Brave is privacy/security focus and have bult-in torrent support, it could be great to see Metalink 4 support in it, and could be an interesting way to push this standard forward
