Menu bar - did I turn it off or has it been done away with?

Description of the issue:

somehow I’ve switched off my menu bar (or did it go away with the latest update?) and I want it back please.
or, can someone tell me how to open a pdf I have on my desktop in brave?

I too would prefer the ‘classic menu bar’, but appear to be getting used to the ‘hamburger’.
