Managing bookmarks: A work in progress?

I have been using Brave for years. I keep hoping that the developers will do something about the bookmarks manager. There are questions, comments, requests to do something, anything with the bookmark manager that go back for years, literally years. Yet it remains, I’ll be nice, somewhat dysfunctional. You can search for brave bookmark manager and find countless suggestions for improvement, again some years old, so I won’t even try to come up with something original. Those are already abundantly available. So the question is, is the current state of the bookmarks manager really the best it can be? I mean firefox and opera both have simple, effective bookmark managers IMHO. There are numerous extensions, I currenty use Bookarks Editor, that provide reasonable bookmark managing abilities. Are extensions the preferred approach to bookmark management in Brave? I am essentially just curious as to why after so many years of suggestions and requests for an updated bookmark manager nothing seems to be moving the needle?

@auxman in everything you said, it seems you did not give any requests. For example, what is it you think needs to change? All I have seen is that you’ve seen a variety of requests and don’t think they have been implemented. Is there something in particular you’re curious about?

In terms of Brave, they are a very small company yet. Rather than profiting and growing, they have actually had multiple rounds of layoffs in the past year or two as well.

The team they do have tends to focus more on critical aspects of the browser for privacy and performance. They don’t tend to put a lot of time and effort into UI or these niche things that are only about appearance. That’s not to say they don’t make efforts here and there, but it’s more rare.

Majority of UI is inherited from Chromium, especially around bookmarks. We do have some option in the sidebar if you use it.

Thanks for the response. As I said in my posting, I absolutely do not see a need for a new request. If a fraction of the requests that have been made over the past few years were implemented that would be progress. My request was more of a question, which I think your response fairly well answered. I have no intention of abandoning Brave, I just think bookmark management lacks … well pretty much everything needed in a bookmark manager. I am by no means alone in this observation. I am sure Brave will continue to get better as it has since I began using it.

Thanks Again for the response.
