Low Key Photos Not Rendering Correctly

Description of the issue:

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Go to a site that has low key images
  2. View the photo/image in full format

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
The result is that portions of the photo become highly pixelated especially in areas with small delineations of contrast. I see this in Google Chrome and in the Brave Browser. This type of image displays correctly in Firefox.

It happens all the time.

Additional Information:
My operating system is Ubuntu 18.04.
