I’m trying to track down what program requested a new tab with spam, so I can determine whether my computer is compromised (or whether I just need to uninstall some adware). Is there a log file where new tab/window requests are recorded to disk?
I’m on Mac 12.5.1 using the desktop Brave
Version 1.43.88 Chromium: 105.0.5195.68 (Official Build) (arm64)
Not that I can think of, although others are likely more versed than I on macOS.
If it’s an ongoing problem you might be able to do something with a wrapper script that writes out info about the calling process someplace. But if this just happened once I can’t think of a way to recover anything about how the browser was called.
