Login button on some websites is not responsive

@olemiss74 I’m going to ask you to provide some information:

  • What version of Brave are you using?

  • What OS and OS version? (you tagged Windows, but Windows 8, 9, 10, 11, or what?)

  • What website(s) are you experiencing this issue?

  • Does it happen with Shields off?

  • Are there any Shields settings that seem to impact this?

  • Does it happen in a Private Window?

And then I guess can try what Alice mentioned, just toggling Hardware Acceleration
_________-

On a side note, it really helps if you can think to include more information on topics if you seek help in the future. It really helps to know little details like which version of Brave, your OS, and just about as much details as you can provide so the most accurate answers can be provided to you.

Thanks. I tried what you suggested but it made no difference. The problem remains.

Which sites are you having issues with?

1.47.186 Chromium

IOS Ventura 13.0.1

  • What website(s) are you experiencing this issue?

Yes

  • Are there any Shields settings that seem to impact this?

Please specify. How do I access Shields settings and what should I look for?

  • Does it happen in a Private Window?

Yes

I don’t have a way to test this, since its non-free. Is there another example that is free?

Does it work in private window mode?

Well, two places for Shields. On your address bar you’ll see the lion icon/widget. That’s Shields. Though that location is only to adjust settings for a particular website. So what you do there won’t affect other sites.

Global settings are at SettingsShields or you can just type in brave://settings/shields on your address bar.

Well, we were just wanting to see what you might have it set to. Part of me would assume you’ve not messed with it since you’re asking. Without giving a long list, I just was trying to see what your settings are at and then was going to try as best I can to duplicate your issue. Such as yesterday one person’s settings on Fingerprinting was on Aggressively Block and that was causing issues for them. In other cases, people have Block Scripts but that also is known to break sites and should only be used situationally. So things like that were what I’m looking for.

Btw, you may also want to check out PSA: Current FAQ - #28 by Saoiray later. Even try using some of those settings if you aren’t and then test.

Not sure at which stage, but just a FYI. I went to the site and from the main, was able to click Log In and a little popup appeared asking for email and password. Usually would create an account there, but seems it’s subscription only and not going to pay to test, lol. That said, the Login button on that screen seems responsive to me, where it then actually showed email may not be empty. But no idea what behavior would happen if we actually tried to put in information and get logged in.

If you would, also going to have you try one more thing. On the top right of your window you’ll have the hamburger menu (three lines). Click it and then go to Create a new profile. Create one as a test and then go to the site, see if you have any success.

Btw, one of the things you can share is like you see in my screenshot here below:

Usually is what we’re looking to see when ask about your Shields settings. (at least for any sites people have issues with)

I haven’t changed anything on my Shields settings as I didn’t even know it existed. The problem I’m having with the dailymemphian.com website is that when the login screen pops up and I click. “Login” nothing happens. It’s a dead link so I never even get the screen that asks for my userid and password. It worked fine until the last Brave update and then quit working.

I checked my Shields settings as you instructed and mine looks just like yours. Nothing is turned on except “Upgrade connections to HTTPS.” I took a screenshot but don’t see a way to upload it to this conversation.

No, it doesn’t work in Private Window mode. On the dailymemphian.com website’s homepage, I get the screen with the “Login” button. When I click it, nothing happens so I don’t even make it to the screen that asks for my userid and password. This happened after the most recent Brave update. It worked fine until then. I haven’t changed anything on my Shields settings.

Which adblock lists are you using in brave://adblock ? are you blocking tinypass?

How do I get to brave://adblock? I entered it in the URL bar and clicked on Filter List but nothing is checked and I do not see “tinypass” listed as an option in that long list so I must be looking in the wrong place.

Just to clarify, on the dailymemphian.com website, I can’t get to the login screen. On the website’s home page there is a “Login” button. When I click it, nothing happens so I never make it to the login screen that asks for my userid and password. The Login button on the site’s homepage is dead. This happened after the last Brave update.

Something (DNS block? or another adblock) is blocking ||cdn.tinypass.com/api/tinypass.min.js$domain=dailymemphian.com or blocking tinypass.com outright will cause the login window not to show.

Brave isn’t blocking this domain, as annoying as it is.Install Brave on another PC does it work on another PC?

I don’t have another computer. My MacBook is the only one I have. Any other suggestions?

I don’t have another PC. Only my MacBook.

I checked https://dailymemphian.com and indeed the login button does nothing. Disabling shields does not work. The Login works in Guest-mode though.

It’s odd that the Login button on the Daily Memphian website worked fine until the last Brave update. That’s when it quit working. Something happened in that update that deactivated this site’s Login button. Is there any way to identify what the problem is?

I have tried the same. But, It does not work.
