Location leaking via gps :(

hello i was wondering why is my freinds website able to pull my exact location via gps through brave but if i use the tor proxy with extensions like location guard and user agent spoofer it no longer pulls my real location ? i have brave set to max security am using proton vpn and the tor socks5 to stop this is there anything that can be done?

This depends on a lot of factors. Most notably, if you’re using a VPN service to connect to the internet, then your location should be obfuscated regardless of what Brave is doing.

Can you please share the link to the website so that I can test on my end?

there are two of these sites one can show the exact address u access from even over vpn this it it https://smokestore.(shop/) the other is https://furry.(ong) both of these are malicious sites so take precautions

I’m confused – you’re saying that these are your friend sites but they’re also malicious?

Additionally, what steps would I take to have it find my location? For example, I went to the first site and it looks like its a sales website for glassware and other accessories. It did ask me for permission to know my location when I first landed there, to which I selected Block but I don’t see any way on the site to trigger it to detect my location.

im saying just u visiting the site in general it now has logged ur adress ive tried this with tor without tor with other browsers to i fear there is no way to block the script :frowning: besides the extensions ive mentioned above so if u can add there features in a future update it would fix it im sorry for confusion but my english is so not good :slight_smile:

@anonp4x,
Where do you see that it’s logged your address?

they have a discord setup it send the logs there they are using it for doxxing and i wanna fix the issue so no one randomly is affected

Are you on desktop or mobile? What OS are you on?

Also, do you get the same location as on your friend’s website if you go here?

(This is a test page I wrote which uses the browser’s geolocation API. It will ask for permission to get your location and then it will show it to you with a link to a map. No logs of any kind, it’s all done in the browser.)
