Dear Brave Team/Community,
We are using a differential/incremental backup system, and its efficiency is significantly impacted by numerous small, frequently changing files. To streamline our backups, I need some clarification regarding Brave’s directory structure so we can safely exclude certain folders without risking the loss of important data like passwords, logins, bookmarks, extensions, and settings.
Question 1:
Where are the absolute directory paths where Brave stores:
- Access to Logins/Passwords (i.e., Brave password manager contents)
- Bookmarks
- Extensions
- Settings
Question 2:
Is anything in the below list unsafe to exclude (i.e., could result in loss of anything in the above list)
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/extensions_crx_cache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/ShaderCache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/GraphiteDawnCache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/GrShaderCache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/component_crx_cache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/GPUCache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/DawnWebGPUCache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/Shared Dictionary/cache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/DawnCache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/DawnGraphiteCache
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/Service Worker/CacheStorage
- /home/username/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/Service Worker/ScriptCache
I believe this information would greatly benefit other Linux users looking for similar guidance. Your assistance would be immensely appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Nick
