[Linux] Auto/Manual Dark-Mode don't work anymore in brave-browser/stable 1.75.175 amd64

Hi,

since the update from
brave-browser/stable 1.74.51 amd64
to
brave-browser/stable,now 1.75.175 amd64 [installed]

All website and browser itself switch to “white” mode. Even if I set browser manual to dark mode (+ restart) all sites “think” I want avoid dark-mode. The “dark-mode” in browser is saved after set it manually. But still all sites ignore that. Browser + System are dark-mode.
So what I did wrong?

Using Debian 12, default dark theme (Adwaita-dark, XFCE4).

In 1.74.51 it’s working, 1.75.175 break it.
Need set all sites (if possible) by hand to dark mode in settings etc. every time.

Best Regards

I do know that we just fixed a related issue here:

But I’m not sure if the above fix will resolve your issue as well. I do notice that you have the custom GTK and QT theming installed on your OS. I also know that there are sometimes conflicts between the browser theming and the OS theming.

Can you tell me what happens when you select use GTK or QT in Appearance there?

EDIT:

Switched to Classic → Dark. Worked. Restart, white again (still Dark is marked).
On GTK it “stays” dark after restart, but all pages use system-default “white”.

Having the same problem on 1.75.175 on linux after the update. I set dark mode manually, restart browser, and it is now light mode, even though when I go back to settings it is still in dark mode.

I have this same issue, although I only see it with my Flatpak install. On another machine, I have Brave (save version) installed as a .deb and haven’t encountered this problem. My Flatpak permissions haven’t changed for some time, though – previous Flatpak Brave installs were fine and did not have this issue.

Brave v1.75.175 (Feb 6, 2025)
Linux Mint 22.1

you should change themes, if you are using calssic switch to gtk and viceversa switch to classic if you are using gtk

EDIT: Seems (in my case) in Version ‘1.75.178’ it’s fixed.
