Description of the issue:
Currently, Brave Rewards (BAT) cannot be withdrawn directly into the integrated Brave Wallet. Instead, users must rely on third-party custodial services like Uphold or Gemini to access their earned BAT. This adds unnecessary friction to the user experience and is somewhat at odds with Brave’s decentralized, user-first ethos.
Feature Request:
Allow users to link Brave Rewards directly to their Brave Wallet so that earned BAT can be automatically or manually transferred without needing an external custodian.
Benefits:
- Simplified user experience by removing reliance on third-party services
- Greater control and ownership of earned BAT
- Strengthens Brave Wallet’s role as a core Web3 component
- Increases privacy by reducing or eliminating the need for KYC
- Promotes a more fully decentralized and self-custodial environment
Implementation Suggestion:
Add an option in the Brave Rewards settings such as:
“Send Rewards directly to Brave Wallet” (toggle or checkbox)
→ When enabled, all earned BAT will be automatically transferred to the user’s Brave Wallet address.
Relevance:
This feature is frequently requested by users who prefer not to register with custodial services. Integrating this functionality would increase user retention and make Brave even more compelling as a Web3-native browser.
