@Toastdispenser,
Have you tried clearing cache/site data for letterboxd? To do this:

  1. Launch Brave and visit letterboxd.com
  2. Click the “tune” icon on the left side of the address bar
  3. Click Site settings:
  4. Then click `Delete data:

I had, and I just tried again to be safe. No luck.

Thanks for checking. Not seeing any performance issues with Letterboxd on my end on either macOS or Windows systems.

Have you checked to see whether or not turning Shields down for the site makes any difference? I’d also be interested to know if the site functions normally in the Private window.

Doesn’t seem to function normally with shields down, and a private window doesn’t help either. A real head scratcher.

Try: In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

  • brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fletterboxd.com

Scroll down to “JavaScript” and allow that:

@Toastdispenser wondering if maybe it’s caused by an extension you have installed?

We can test that and any issues with your current profile by creating a new browser profile and testing letterboxd behavior there. Can you please

  1. Launch Brave, go to Menu --> More tools --> Add profile and create a new browser profile (this will not overwrite your current profile and you’re free to delete it after testing)
  2. Close your original profile window so only the new profile window is open
  3. Visit letterboxd in the new profile and test to see if you get the same behavior

Let me know what you find out.

Same behavior. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Brave and that didn’t fix it.

Javascript was already allowed

@Toastdispenser at a bit of a loss here, especially if a new profile and un/reinstall didn’t change anything.

It could be a Graphics Acceleration issue but that seems unlikely. Can you try toggling it off to check and see if this helps at all? You’ll find the setting in Brave in Settings --> System --> Use Graphics Acceleration when available

Interestingly enough, I had turned that off to solve an issue with video playback a month or so ago.

I just turned it back on and the site works perfectly!
