It would be great if Brave provided to user more control over how Brave Shields work. At this moment Brave Shields doesn’t provide to users a more granular control of what is blocked or permited, as a browser that advertises itself as user first it seems natural let users tweak Brave Shields as they want. Personally i would like to block tracks while permiting ads, and i know some may argue that ads are also trackers, and it is hard to separate where one start and where the other ends and i have read other feature request here asking for an option with only tracker blocking and permiting ads, this request was denied with a explanation of how its not easy to separate these things. My feature request improve the situation regard this problem, cause if its hard or not to separate, why not let the user decide what to block or not? The current option is “permit all” or block both with some optional lists, it would be great to let users turn on or off the filters lists that are on by default.
I would like to see this also!!! I hate the “take it or leave it” feeling. I personally do not like the feeling of having to turn off Brave shields when a website isnt working. That is why I like to use uBlock and on android it is not an option to install extensions (at least that I am aware of). I know that Brave for android allows users to add content filtering lists but it is not the same thing. I am curious to know if there are future plans to have extensions for android and giving users more control over the Brave shields?
Are you on GitHub? Any way I am by accident and I’m starting a repository thst deals with just what you’re talking about. And some more stuff too. Would you like to help? I’m going to be loud about it and probably get banned but well behaved women rarely make history. If not, just keep spreading awareness without going to jail if possible. I imagine this is how Hitler indoctrinated Germany. Propaganda, censorship and fear. What else could cause a neighbor to report a friend the KGB to a death camp. Sorry. I’m really passionate about this. [email protected] is my email and Laughter79 is my Github handle. Don’t laugh at it. There was a method to my madness.
I want same things as you have mentioned
Firefox allows you to install extensions on android.
Tips regarding Brave Shields:
I have more success, with:
- Brave Shields UP
- Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
- Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
- Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
- Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
I almost NEVER use:
- All of Brave Shields UP
- All of Brave Shields DOWN
