Latest version of Brave contains virus!

<---------Delete this line and everything above before posting---------->**

Description of the issue:
The latest version of Brave triggers multiple virus warnings.
After updating to version Version 1.2.43 Chromium: 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Examples:
tor-0.2.5.8-win32-brave-0
NetTool.Win32.TorTool.aug

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
I cannot reproduce as my antivirus cleans and removes each infection it finds. This started after the latest update. I only use this web browser for normal business stuff. I don’t visit social media, entertainment, or such websites. Simply business related.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:
Brave should not be using code, extensions, updates, etc. that would be detected for viruses, expolits, etc.

Reproduces how often:
Random - Whenever Brave updates something in the background.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Version 1.2.43 Chromium: 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit) - Windows 7 Professional 64Bit

Additional Information:
Antivirus advises removal as it flags some Brave related files as “Legitimate software that can be used by criminals to damage your computer or personal data” - This tells me that Brave is opening the potential to expose private data and also exposing user systems to potential harm. This only happened after the latest start-up of Brave (yesterday and today), and Brave normally silently updating some files, as it checks for updates. Brave should fix this issues ASAP.

what prompt files from antivirus ?

It’s not a virus, but a PUA which is up to you to manage:

@Taomyn Thank you! I appreciate the input (and the added peace of mind).

I have the same issue popping up on my virus protection. What’s a PUA?
brave virus

I Googled it: What is a PUA?
It means “Potentially Unwanted Application”

I am getting shut out of my comp and have to reboot. Is there a resolution?

I am getting shut out of my comp and have to reboot. Is there a resolution? I get this message:

Any suggestions?

I am no expert in any way, but have you tried reinstalling Brave? Maybe that might fix it? Be sure to safeguard any BAT before reinstalling.

Thanks. Much appreciated
