Latest release doesn't launch on Xubuntu 24.04

OS: Xubuntu 24.04 LTS. HW: AMD 64. Brave installs fine from the repository. When I launch it from the command line with brave --version it reports Brave Browser 124.1.65.126 unknown . Without the switch it continues running and six brave processes appear on the list output by ps but there is no display. Downgrading as far as 122.1.63.174 produced no change to this situation.

Are you using Wayland? It is broken for me on Fedora as well. But for me it will open but there is a 5 second delay doing anything. Completely unusable. So I did a dnf downgrade and will stick with previous version for a bit again. A couple versions back there were issues with Wayland and looks like this stems from the Chromium update again as they were messing with the ozone platform:

"[Merge to M124] Fix ozone platform initialization when set via chrome://flags

This change that fixes ozone platform selection. It’s intended to be
minimal so it can be merged to beta and stable. The newly added
–eye-dropper-not-supported flag should be removed in a followup."

That’s my guess at least. Does no one at Google or Brave use Linux with Wayland?
