Copying the URL of the site I am visiting is something I do many times a day. It would be nice to have a shortcut like “Cmd + Shift + C” like Arc Browser has, instead of having to click on the URL (or hit “Cmd + L”) and then “Cmd + C”.
@sebama you can create a shortcut for it. If you haven’t spent any time looking through Settings, I highly suggest you do so.
Settings → System → Shortcuts is where you’ll want to go .
I used term to limit things, so typed in Copy and see as below:
Then I tested, so went with a Ctrl + Shift + C and went to a few sites. Hitting that shortcut copied the URL of whatever website I was on. It didn’t show anything special but when I went to Paste, I saw it was the URL of last place I did that keyboard command.
@Saoiray thanks for the rapid response! That is awesome, I thought you couldn’t edit keyboard shortcuts.
One last thing. Chrome already has the “Cmd + Shift + C” shortcut taken, it opens the Inspector. Is there a way to override this? Because if I configure this for the copy URL, it won’t work, it will open the Inspector.
It’s in spanish but I think you will understand, I am not able to remove the shortcut:
@sebama if I remember right, there’s a deviation on Mac compared to other OS. I think when I have shared about deleting existing shortcuts, people on Mac have said they can’t for some reason.
On Windows I can delete any shortcut, such as you see the -
that appeared here when I did a mouseover of an existing shortcut:
It ideally should be the same for you, where you can click that and it removes it, like below:
I guess big thing would be for you to just make sure that hovering your mouse over one of the existing shortcuts doesn’t make that appear. If it does, then you click to remove it. But if it doesn’t and clicking on the shortcut itself in the System → Shortcuts menu does nothing, then it just means there’s something weird preventing it for now and you’d just have to create some other shortcut instead of the one you’d like.
Oh ok understood… On mac, the (-) symbol appears only in the shortcuts I create, not in the default ones.. So for now, I will have to use another shortcut.. Thanks so much for the help @Saoiray !!!
