Just noticed that 0.750 BAT came out of my wallet without my authorization. I had set auto contribute to zero before, but now out of nowhere I see “Giving 0.75” BAT, I didn’t set that contribution.
Is there any way I can recover the money? What we earn here is not much, and the browser even does that kind of thing, that’s not fair.
Check if you have Monthly recurring tips on. That could be the reason.
I have just said that I don’t have it settle.
Can you send a screenshot of your rewards page ?
I’ll be able to see what’s the issue
Let’s start step by step:
- How many devices do you have? Are all of them with auto-contribution off?
- How many profiles do you have? Are all of them with auto-contribution off?
- As @SmartyAadi mentioned, did you set Monthly tips in any of your devices/profiles?
- Old devices, if any. Were all of them with auto-contribution off?
- What does your transaction history says? Check transactions in your Uphold or Gemini account.
Unfortunately, you cannot undo any transaction that was already made in the blockchain. But you can try to find out what was the cause of it and avoid it in the future.
Why is it so hard to understand what I said? I didn’t enable automatic contribution. And what you mean by “cannot undo”? So I just lose my money and that’s it?
Then what about this? Automatically Enabled Auto-Contribute Without My Permission
Not sure about that. You can give it a shot by contacting Brave by raising a ticket →
If you know a bit about blockchain, you know that transactions cannot be reverted.
Let try to explain. This is not your money.
The whole concept of Brave is that users get rewards for watching ads and they tip content creators. Unfortunately users use Brave as a source of income, but that was never the purpose of it. This is also why Brave is struggling with compliance of regulations and most countries have been excluded.
This is not your money, this is Brave’s money that is given to you as rewards. You did not pay to use the browser. You did not work to earn any money. They give it to you because they want. That’s why it is called reward.
I gave you tips to try to help you identifying why the contribution has been done. Instead of doing your own research, you keep arguing, but you did not answer any of my questions.
You would have needed to turn it off. Don’t know when you’re claiming to have set it to 0 or why you would have left it on if not going to contribute. You created extra ways for things to go wrong.
In that, they asked for contact to try to investigate. It doesn’t always mean they will help you or do much, but they try to see what happened and if it was auto-contribute or somethin gelse.
Plain and simple, you’ll never get the help you need just by creating a topic only. ANYTHING dealing with Rewards or BAT should always be handled through a Support Ticket. Beyond that you’re just going to have a lot of people sharing opinions and asking a bunch of questions, which most likely won’t ever bring you to a solution.
Even people working at Brave can’t help you based on a topic like this, as they end up needing information that shouldn’t be shared publicly. So if you haven’t done so already, please submit that ticket and wait for someone from Brave to contact you.

It was set to off, I didn’t believe that’d be needed to be explained too. Next time I’ll make a drawing.
