Description of the issue:
Windows 11 ‘Efficiency Mode’ being applied to Brave processes constantly at launch making the whole browser unresponsive and sluggish.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Launch Brave and look in task manager…
Expected result:
Some way to disable it that works.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
" Brave is up to date
Version 1.74.50 Chromium: 132.0.6834.111 (Official Build) (64-bit)
](https://brave.com/latest/)"
Additional Information:
I’ve read through searching to do the following as a “fix”.
Add " --disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess" after the target in the shortcut, kill the brave process entirely, launch new shortcut as admin.
Not working, as soon as its open I look in task manager and several of the processes are in save a tree aka lag mode.
Found a solution. I right clicked the shortcut and enabled compatibility mode (Win 7). Finally no more stupid efficiency mode and horrible performance issues!
I register here just to tell you that you are a LEGEND. I’ve been fighting this efficiency crap for weeks. BTW, this method works for all browsers, probably different software also. Thanks man.
The same thing happens to me. It is frustrating because I have Youtube up on my second monitor when gaming. Efficiency mode makes the video start skipping and is infuriating. I’ve tried the old trick and I’ve tried using compatibility mode and neither work for me. If anyone has another solution please let me konw
I also can’t for the life of me get Brave to stop running in efficiency mode. It’s SO SLOW and sluggish - I feel like this is especially the case after a recent restart.
I tried turning it off (“always off”) in process lasso - no luck, efficiency mode just pops right back up before long. Tried running in Win 7 Compatibility mode and that wouldn’t load discord or twitch for me (no good - can’t make that work), and I tried adding the " --disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess" after the target and it loads fine but still goes into efficiency mode.
This is making it almost unusable and makes me want to switch to a different browser. I’ve got a great PC too, 64GB of RAM, 14900F processor (already bios-updated while still brand new). I should not be having these problems running my windows/tabs!
