Issue with brave sync after hardreset

I use Brave Sync on my phone, but recently I encountered some issues that required me to perform a hard reset due to a boot loop. After resetting my phone, I reinstalled Brave to access my synced passwords. I had my passphrase stored safely, so I thought I could easily recover my data. However, when I entered the passphrase, Brave informed me that it was from a deprecated version and instructed me to obtain a new code from a different device. Since I factory reset my phone, I can’t do that.

How can I regain access to my sync? I had important passwords stored there. Fortunately, I also have a local backup of my passwords, so I’m okay if I can’t access the sync, but what about the passwords stored in Brave? Is there any risk involved?

Is there a way to contact Brave support and provide them with my old passphrase? Could they issue me a new passphrase or at least delete my passwords from their servers? I’m concerned that someone else might gain access to my data if they enter a random phrase that happens to match mine, and I wouldn’t even be notified.

Hello! Here’s some more information on how storing sensitive data works in Brave. https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/29808985123085-Sensitive-data-storage

The sync phrase consists of the seed itself (24 words) and the 25th word. The 25th word changes on a regular basis and can be found at the link below.

Thanks!

I was able to recover it—thank you so much! :beers:

I should have checked the community earlier. I’m sure you might have already helped someone else with the same issue, but I panicked and freaked out. My apologies for that.

Thank you again to you and the Brave team—you’re awesome! :lion::ok_hand:
