Is this suggested password feature in the room with us?

Windows 19045.5737
Brave 1.77.101 Chromium: 135.0.7049.115

Im sorry, but this is so retarded that its actually getting funny. the $1 million question is: why does this browser not have a working password generator

this is so retarded. it cringes me that brave’s staff finds time to write twitter threads to trash google privacy but cant focus on fixing a single fundamentally important and highly requested feature

so exactly, why is brave so retarded about password generation? how is it possible that even in someone’s first steps using the browser, like setting up the uphold custodial wallet, it didnt suggest me a new strong password while registering? why wasnt it suggested even when registering to this forum?

do i have to turn it on? where do i turn it on? why is it not already turned on by default?

why do people have to look to fix this or turn this on? and while looking to fix this, have to look for topics on topics on topics on this forum where people are giving different opinions on the real existence of this feature?

why isnt there even a proper support page on help explaining this and people in 2025 have to look on a forum like its 2005 for a feature that should be there, working flawlessy from the first second they turn on the browser?

this is so retarded for real

thanks god google helps a little by telling me to turn on this flag as reported by a post in this forum in MAY 2024.unbelievable that someone had to point this thing out in may 2024 while I saw people suggesting this feature in 2016.

.

but guess what. the flag doesnt even show up lmao

this thing is a complete joke
Initially, i believed it was me the retarded one. but after asking 2 LLM, google, searching this forum + brave help pages, im pretty sure im not. I did my due diligence for 1.5 hours

now its your turn
for the sake not of me, but of the people who need this function to work, can you clarify correctly somewhere that it is easy to reach what needs to be done? this is mental illness

no one able to provide an explaination how to solve this?

@Mattches you happen to know what the “magic” trigger to this might be? On my main profile I see the option to suggest passwords:

But then on my other browser profiles, I don’t see that option. I was looking at brave://password-manager/settings and other locations but I’m not really seeing a toggle. So guess am a bit lost on why it’s able to be done on one profile but not the other.

I believe this has to do with Sync. For some reason there is some bit of code that only allows the option to show if the following is true:

  1. Go to brave://settings/passwords and enable Offer to save passwords
  2. Go to brave://settings/braveSync and enable Sync (no need to add another device)
  3. Go to brave://settings/braveSync/setup and enable Passwords under Sync data

The following issue is opened to remove those restrictions and show the option at all times:

Because built-in password managers are a bad idea.

ps.
brave://settings/passwords actually is brave://password-manager/settings

unbelievable. thats it! it works! thank you!
I skipped looking into github. Grok too missed it

highly suggest to make this clear somewhere like in the brave help center (prob. first place people are gonna look into) 'cause people cant have to discover this by reading into github or by having to open a thread here!

I believe Chrome browser is pretty heavy about logging-in gmail account while using it, and I always looged immediately. It probably forces its “autosync” from there on, so I never noticed this issue in that browser. but on both browsers you can backtest this by going private/incognito mode: strong password generator feature vanishes

Brave, instead, doesnt have an account login system so you need to manually turn this autosync thing on even with no other devices sharing (and select passwords too), which might be perceived like a little nonsense step from the common end user with not much tech experience.

I now actually get why its not that easy to solve by devs. you cant makes so its already turned on because you need the user to take care of the 25 words seed first, or it would mean storing it locally not encrypted. basically it would be a straight backdoor to their password ez to hack by common viruses. and you dont wanna force people to do this as soon as they run brave for the first time cause its meh.

Maybe something right to do should be adding an alert in the password section saying the need to turn on autosync to obtain the strong password generator (+ link for more info to the relative help center page). before tryina looking into the help center, I looked into settings for it!

thank you again!

Which is the best option then? thirdparty ones?
