Is there some way to turn on automatic notification of update availability?

Is there some way to turn on automatic notification of update availability? This is on Windows. As it is, I check every so often, so it’s no big deal. But other Chromium based browsers do, so I was wondering.

Also what about automatic updates?

Thank you.

To my knowledge, under Windows, unless you’ve specifically modified Autoruns, Brave automatically downloads and installs updates when they’re available; it then notifies you that a user-initated restart is required to complete the update process.

“Unless you’ve specifically modified Autoruns” — Don’t stroll down this path unless you’re familiar with the risks.

Brave lists the current release here: https://brave.com/latest/ and the notional release schedule here: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/wiki/Brave-Release-Schedule

The only Chromium-based browser I’ve used that offers users control over updating (without modifying Autoruns) is Vivaldi. There may be others of which I’m unaware.

Looks like I have it turned off somehow, and the problem (if it is a problem) is not with Brave.

I will leave it as is and keep checking manually, at least for now.

Fiddled a little under the covers (of the OS not Brave) and after this morning’s boot up I have these:

Also, the boot up time was faster (maybe related?).

We’ll see what’s what after the next update.

Updated and fixed. :sunglasses:
