Is there an on-screen cue that lets you know which 'profile' you're in?

I’m not seeing anything on-screen that lets me know which Brave ‘profile’ I’m currently in.

Is there such a cue (without having to consult the Profiles dropdown menu)?

Yup – your avatar (small round purple icon, or whatever you set your avatar as) is here, to the right of your extensions hotbar:

@Asad Thanks, I see the avatar but only in standard windows. It doesn’t display in Private or Private TOR windows, which is where I usually am. (Is there a setting to display it in those windows?)

Also, I only see color, no identifying text, not even a number. If there is any, I can’t make it out, even on a bright screen.

Private and Private TOR windows never use profiles; this is done for security reasons.

You can change the avatar image here: brave://settings/manageProfile

At the moment, profile support is pretty minimal – a revamp of this feature is planned.

@Asad Thanks, without the ability to include text, identifying which profile you’re in is still an issue, unless you’re one literal user (i.e., person) among others who use the browser, each of whom only uses one profile.

Just out of curiosity, what’s the security issue with Profiles if you retain their generic default names, like Profile 1 (meaning no data can be associated with an actual ID)?

Thanks for the feedback!

I think it’s just a general quality of life thing to make people feel safer when browsing in private / Tor mode.
