Is there a way to turn off Brave AI at my desktop?

Is there a way to turn off Brave AI at my desktop?

While there are times when this is a valuable resource, there are times when I need to have this portion of my search to not be visible.

Thanks.

@Wolfflet The Summarizer is currently only available on the site and it can be enabled or disabled there as well. So while at Brave Search, go to the settings for the site, which should be https://search.brave.com/settings, and you will see the option to enable/disable Summarizer, such as in screenshot below:

Again, I want to emphasize for everyone that it’s not an option within the browser, but is saved on Brave Search site itself. So if you change browsers, clear cookies, etc then you may have to switch the toggle again on the site.

@Saoiray
I have AI turned off. Why is it still activating every time I search this exact result? It happens for others too…

Where?

The reason I’m asking is I keep encountering people who aren’t paying attention. For example, they go into Brave’s settings and disable Leo but then they complain about Brave Search. Somehow people don’t comprehend that settings on a website, like Brave Search, is completely different than browser settings. I’m wanting to confirm what you’re doing and seeing overall.

On Brave Search, if you go to the settings there and disable Answer with AI, then it will not trigger any AI when you submit stuff. The Answer with AI button doesn’t go away, but even clicking it you won’t get a response.

Other thing to remember is because it’s a site settings thing on Brave Search and we don’t have accounts on that website, then all our settings will be wiped clean if we clear cookies. So if you’re clearing on exit or anything, it will forget your settings and you’ll have AI/Summarizer available to you the next time you return.

I had it turned off the first time I searched. I will now try again:

Same result. For some reason, when I search this specific result, it always turns up with AI. It’s happened with other results before, but I don’t remember what they were. It’s weird

I click the gear at the top right of the page and hit “show more” at the bottom of that settings card. AI SEARCH is turned off. The AI result is still there. It might be a glitch or a bug now that I think about it

Thanks for confirming that @Jbez . If you open in a private window and try, does it happen there as well?

Or if you just straight up clear cookies for Brave Search and then make sure settings are as mentioned does it make a difference?

I’m essentially wondering if it’s something related to cache or cookies.

Actually…I just tested from my phone and am experiencing the same issue. It’s not doing it for all prompts but at least is triggering when asking for translation of names.

So does seem to be some disconnect on code. I’ll tag @steeven, @mattches, and @solso to see if any can take a look at it and ping right people to get that fixed

And after looking, I found the difference. What we’re seeing is Code LLM. I’m thinking that something mixed up there. But if you disable so like below, should resolve

The Code LLM should only be for code, so not sure why it was triggering AI response as you found. But yeah…

Yeah that worked. I probably should’ve just experimented a bit harder with that lol. Thanku

I was having such a hard time finding the setting “answer with AI”; but finally the hyper link you posted had that option and i was able to turn it off.

-Thank you.

Edit: that link also worked on my phone to turn off “answer with AI”.
