Been using Android Beta exclusively for a of couple years.
I want to try using a fresh installation of normal Brave on the same phone. Can we sync or export / import everything between the two different apps on the same Android device?
Multiple attempts to figure it out have been unsuccessful.
Then realized I could try syncing to my older android phone…
So I installed Brave on the other android, then tried both the qr scan and copy/paste the text code modes from the Beta app on phone 1 to the Brave app on phone 2 and nothing happens. Also no success trying both modes from Beta phone 1 to Beta on phone 2.
Can’t figure out if am missing a step, or whatever the problem is.
Typically, is the sync supposed to happen immediately following the scan or paste?
Is there some hidden button to finalize the sync after the scan or paste?
Thanks for the reply SmartyAadi, I am not finding the actual action to complete the sync. Do I paste the chain code from the Beta to a specific spot in the Brave?
Can’t find it.

@xatjones actually heading off to bed, so going to kind of be short here. I’ll put some links to my FAQ portion on Sync in case any of that info helps. But TL:DR for you based on what I’m seeing:
Make sure all your devices are updated. You can’t sync using old version of Brave
You need to make sure that you’re selecting what those devices sync. Like if one device has it toggled to share Passwords but the other doesn’t, then they won’t share passwords.
Synced info happens about once every 5 minutes. Sometimes it can go faster, but it’s set to check for new information about once every 5 minutes for certain.
Anyway, basic info is below on some key info to know. Also has some screenshots and all which might help you in the process. With that said, I’m out for the night.
I am familiar with the basics and performed syncs with PCs. Just not finding success syncing between the two different android apps (Brave Beta to Regular Brave). Been using the Beta exclusively for 1-2 yrs or so, with no issues. I got the idea to experience the Regular Brave for awhile and see if I could tell any differences.
@xatjones I’m wanting to tag in Support on this, but I need you to provide some more specific details really quick.
Which OS are you using for each device? (like instead of just saying “Android” I’m looking for Android 7, Android 12, etc)
Which version of Brave are you using on each devices? (Not just asking Release vs Beta, but if you can click on the hamburger menu and About Brave or whatever, then report the exact version number. Like 1.57.49 or whatever it is)
If you go to Sync in your settings, do all devices show up as being on the sync chain?
Without showing the QR code or sync phrase (Definitely make sure those aren’t included, if you share it then people can get your passwords and all, do triple check it’s not visible), can you give a screenshot of what you’re seeing in this process?
And sorry been 5 days since I responded. Somehow I lost track of this. Tends to happen when people don’t tag me on things. General replies don’t get me a notification and I don’t always go back to read updates on every single post.
Please advise how to tag you/other users.
OS: Android 13
Remember, I am trying to sync the two different apps on the same device:
put my full setup with the Beta into a fresh install regular Brave.
So my single device shows on the sync chain list.
I don’t sync my pc’s to mobile, so no other devices are on the list.
Thanks for your time with this, no need to apologize for response times.
This sync idea was more a curiosity than a “need to do” sort of thing.
