Internal sync set-up error when entering a sync code

I’m trying to link my computer Brave browser to an already existing sync chain, but when I enter the sync code I receive the message “Internal sync set-up error”

Steps

  1. Go to brave://settings/braveSync/setup
  2. Click on “I have a Sync Code”
  3. Enter the sync code retrieved from another device already in the Sync Chain
  4. I receive the “Internal sync set-up error”

I’m not sure what it means or how to solve this issue. I haven’t found anything online about this specific error message.

Brave Version: Version 1.48.171 Chromium: 110.0.5481.177 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Device: macOS Mojave version 10.14.6

Thank you for reaching out. I actually haven’t seen this issue before — let me reach out to our Sync team and see what the cause is.

I have the same issue and cannot add a new PC to the sync.
The error message does not give me anything to check or action.
I am eager to receive a solution.
