Installed Brave (Android) via Amazon, browser will NOT run unless Amazon App Store is loaded/running

Hello helpful & knowledgeable Brave community members!

I tried the Windows desktop version of Brave, and liked it. I decided to install Brave on our Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (tablet) running Android 4.1

I really don’t care for Google, so instead of getting Brave from the Google Play Store, I downloaded Brave from the Amazon App Store. It installed, and appeared to run well.

However, if we are NOT signed in to the Amazon App Store, Brave will NOT run, and we get an error message “Amazon App Store must be loaded/running or Brave will not run”, or words to that effect.

WHY IS THIS? What information is Brave sharing with Amazon? Where can I download an Android version of Brave that is as independent as possible?

Before trying Brave for Android, I was using FireFox for Android. Rather than downloading it from the Google Play Store, or Amazon App Store, through some exploring, I found that Mozilla had compiled, ready-to-install releases, for various Operating Systems, for their products on their web site. Does Brave offer the same?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Thanks for reporting @Sonostanka. cc @Serg and @LaurenWags for Amazon issue.

You can directly download the apk from GitHub, but, IIRC if you install this way you should update manually when new version released.

Hi @Sonostanka

I would definitely advise trying GitHub as @eljuno noted. I am unsure why you would be seeing that message from Amazon, perhaps @serg or @samartnik can help us out with that one.

even it was working smooth on my iPad Pro when it was running on ios 10 however as I have updated to ios 11.3 whenever now I am opening the app it only loads a blank screen on the start up and crashes after a while automatically. How do I fix it?
